Proposed Bylaws Amendments
Posted On: May 06, 2021
Dear NOLSW Leaders,
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the NJC on June 5th!  Please share the following information with all your members today.  As part of the business meeting, we will be voting on the following changes to the NOLSW Bylaws:
Article XII, Section 1, A & C:  Provision to maintain a consistent dues rate of 1.44% in the event that there is a change in the UAW dues rate as a result of Article 16, Section 2 (a&b) of the UAW Constitution.
The following three changes are being required by the UAW:

Article XV, Section 3: For liability purposes, the UAW is requiring a provision that has a mechanism for how to remove a member from a meeting who is engaging in disruptive or dangerous behavior. We've added language to their recommended language to make it clear that this provision could not be used to remove someone for expressing a dissenting or unpopular opinion and to provide a clear mechanism for the membership to overrule the decision of the Chairperson.

Article XXIII: Expressly states the fact that the Local Union Bylaws are subordinate to the UAW Constitution.
Article XXIV:  Requires an outside counsel review of all long-term lease agreements.
Please review the proposed changes in the NOLSW Proposed Bylaw Changes June 2021 document attached to this email.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the NJC!
In Solidarity,
Pamela L. Smith, President
