LSSA Prepared for Strike
Updated On: Jan 06, 2016

The members of the Legal Services Staff Association in New York City are bracing for a strike. Management made a final offer to the Union on May 1st, which will be voted on by the membership on Wednesday, May 15th. LS-NYC's final offer includes changes to the health insurance plan design, employee contributions to premiums and cutting the employer's contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan. Altogether, management is asking for cuts that amount to 5% of total salary. LSSA has offered historic concessions, including employee contributions to health care, if LS-NYC will agree that management bear a proportionate share of futrue layoffs. Currently, there is 1 manager citywide for every 3 bargaining unit employees.
